Also known as an 'about me section', this can be one of the trickiest parts to write and many job seekers get it wrong.

Thankfully, we have some top tips to assist you in getting this important stage right.

Firstly, try and break it down into three parts:

  1. About you/who you are
  2. Why you are right for the role and what value you can add to the company
  3. Your ambitions and career goals

  • Try and keep a personal statement under 200 words, which is roughly four sentences. 
  • If you are writing in the third person, remove prounouns.
  • Write a new personal statement for every job application.

  • Avoid too many buzzwords

  • Avoid using too many adjectives

  • Avoid inspirational quotes
